New Details on Diane Keaton's Death: "Sudden Decline"

Diane Keaton died at the age of 79 on October 11th, leaving the acting world in mourning .

A friend of the star revealed to People magazine new details about the artist's health and how it worsened.

"His decline was very rapid, which was painful for his loved ones," he stressed.

The same source said that the death was "unexpected" and that not even his closest - and long-time - friends were aware of his true state of health .

Some signs, however, showed that Diana's health was deteriorating at an alarming rate.

At some point, Keaton stopped walking his dogs, something he did every day. Additionally, his Los Angeles home was put up for sale in March.

Although the official cause of death has not yet been revealed, the actress spoke openly about the health problems she faced throughout her life, including skin cancer.

"It's in the family history," he revealed to the Los Angeles Times in 2015. "I remember my aunt Martha had skin cancer so severe that they removed her nose. My father had basal cell carcinoma, and so did my brother. This type of skin cancer is complicated. That's why you have to wear sunscreen," he explained.

In her memoir, 'Then Again,' Keaton revealed that she suffered from bulimia at age 20. "I told the truth, I have nothing to hide. It's not relevant, but I feel good. I think I will be a sister to every woman—and I'm sure men too—who has had some kind of eating disorder," she said in an interview with HuffPost in 2011.
